Design for Manufacturing

Description:

Design for Manufacturing (short DfM) describes the process of PCB layouting in close coordination with the PCB production and within the printed circuit board manufacturer prescribed specifications.

If the design for manufacturing was met, is checked by the PCB manufacturer via Design Rules Check (DRC). For example, EAGLE users can rely on .dru design templates, which already include the most important settings for the CAD program, to ensure a "producibility".

To transmit all data to the PCB manufacturer, taking into account DfM and DfA, the ODB ++ format seems perfect. Multi-CB also converts most other popular customer data at no  additional charge.
