Thick copper PCB

Description:

A thick copper PCB is usually a printed circuit board with a copper thickness > 105µm. These boards are used for high switching currents in the automotive and industrial electronics and for customer-specific solutions. Copper offers the highest thermal conductivity coefficient besides silver.

A thick copper board allows:

  • high switching currents
  • optimum heat dissipation of local warming
  • increased life, reliability and level of integration

Special precautions should already be taken in the design of the board as due to the etching process, only wider conductor structures are possible.
