FED - PCB Design Award 2022

Multi-CB is once again the sponsor of this year's FED PCB Design Awards, which is already taking place for the 6th time. PCB designers from German-speaking countries can apply until May 31. Since 2012, the professional association for design, PCB and electronics manufacturing (FED) has awarded the valuable professional prize every two years, which is considered an accolade in the PCB design community.

"The PCB Design Award focuses solely on the designer and their diverse and demanding work," says initiator Erika Reel, FED Board Member for Design: "As the interface between development and manufacturing, the designer plays an extremely important role in the production process - we want to honour that."

Good PCB data is one of the most important tools for quality and delay-free production for both the customer and the PCB manufacturer. Supporting the PCB Design Awards is therefore also in Multi-CB's own interest. As a long-standing member, Multi-CB supports the FED PCB Design Award, which provides valuable impulses for hardware development with regard to the increasing complexity in PCB design.

Categories

The PCB Design Award 2022 has four categories for submission:

  • 3D/Construction
  • High Power
  • High Density
  • Brand new: "Simply ingenious". In this category, "the somewhat different solution" is awarded, which has been implemented in a simply ingenious or ingeniously simple way.

Application

Every PCB designer working in Germany, Austria and Switzerland can apply. The device or assembly for which the design was created is not relevant. Only a functional prototype must exist. It does not matter which EDA tool the designer has worked with. Design data is not part of the application, only screenshots and photos for illustration.

The application documents for the award can be found at www.pcbdesignaward.de. The work is described in an application form. The task, approach and implementation must be explained. A jury of six experts independently evaluates the anonymised works according to defined criteria.
